This stunning young lady is heading into her senior year this fall, and while this was part of my Studio Insiders series, it had so much of what I love bringing into senior pictures: personality, confidence, fun, and a little room to try something different.
That is one of my favorite parts of working with high school age teens. The session does not have to look like everyone else’s. It does not have to be stiff, overly posed, or copied from the same list of senior picture ideas everyone has already seen.
It can be built around the person in front of the camera and give them not only a great experience but confidence!
For this session, we photographed her in Sharon, PA and used the location in a way that gave the portraits a more creative, personal feel. The right location matters, but it is never just about where we shoot. It is about how we use the space, the light, the outfit and the biggest part; the senior’s personality to create images that feel intentional.
That is where the difference happens.
At The Portrait Studio by Danielle Renae Photography, every session starts with a plan. You are not left trying to figure out what to wear, where to go, what to do with your hands, or how the whole thing is supposed to work.
We talk through the session before the camera ever comes out so your teen or senior feels prepared, comfortable, and ready to show up as themselves.
Some seniors want something simple and polished. Some want studio portraits. Some want outdoor locations. Some want color, texture, creative posing, or something that feels a little more unexpected.
And some seniors, like this one, are open to trying something with a little Studio Insiders energy.
That willingness to try makes a huge difference.
When a senior feels comfortable, the photos start to feel more natural. Their personality comes through. The images feel less forced and more connected to who they are.
That matters.
Anytime you're getting pictures remember it's not just about getting a nice photo for the yearbook or a few images to post online. They are also about encouraging confidence.
